Shake Shack Restaurant Review Once in awhile the Taste Critics crew will get a new blip on the radar that takes them out of the Fort Lauderdale area. This is one of those reviews. While doing a random Google search for “Best burger in south Florida” I came across a blog that showcased a few top notch burger places [...]
J. Mark's Restaurant Review J. Marks Restaurant isn’t exactly new to the strip on Federal Highway. In fact I’ve driven past it dozens of times without really putting much thought to trying it. I guess my reluctance was because of the fact that the name doesn’t really tell you much about what you’ll find inside. Had it not been [...]
Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Review Jimmy John’s likes to refer to their product as “Gourmet Sandwiches”, but anything in a long hoagie roll I call a sub. The ‘sandwich/sub’ genre of food is probably the most crowded for downtown eaters. In just minutes we have access to Jimmy John’s, Firehouse Subs, Quiznos, Subway and a slew of other mom and [...]
Jet's Pizza Restaurant Review I’ll admit, my photo doesn’t make Jet’s Pizza look that impressive. From the parking lot, it’s just another store in a row of many other stores and doesn’t really stand out, however lurking beyond those walls is a little secret I’m about to let out. Jet’s Pizza is a chain that has locations in about [...]
Argentelle Cafe Review The Argentelle Cafe may very well be the reason for a renaissance at Riverfront on Las Olas Blvd. This former downtown Fort Lauderdale hot spot is going through a transition. Out are the old familiars (Dan Marino's, Hooters and Ugly Tuna Saloona) and slowly but surely new blood is opening its doors.
The Argetelle Cafe is run by Chef Remy, who's mild French accent welcomes patrons each day. Remy is a culinary chef with roots in New York and France.

Tijuana Flats Restaurant Review

It would be a sin not to go to a Mexican restaurant on Cinco de Mayo. To be faithful to our cause of finding the best appropriate food, Taste critics Todd and Brandon venture out to new territory and explore a new find… Tijuana Flats. Located on the north side of a busy section of Sunrise [...]
Downtowner Saloon Restaurant Review

The Downtowner Saloon is one of those places that is practically historic for the downtown crowd. It is literally a few minutes walk for people located in the downtown area of Fort Lauderdale, with a brief walk over the bridge (assuming it’s not up of course). The Downtowner has a killer view of the area and [...]
Mr. Nicks Sub Shoppe Review

Mr Nick’s Sub Shoppe is really more of a stand than a restaurant. There is no indoor seating, but there is an outdoor area that is under a canopy that seats about 30 people. The Sub Shoppe is located on S. Andrews Avenue just a stones thrown from the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale. You could [...]
California Burgers and Shakes Restaurant Review

Update: As of 2011, we realized this restaurant is closed. Most likely due to the poor location and lack of traffic… Expanding TasteCritics.com coverage of restaurants we decide to venture outside the city limits of downtown Fort Lauderdale and head to the Galleria Mall on sunrise Blvd. Directly across the street from the mall is [...]
Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Restaurant Review

If pizza is your thing, then practically every city in the United States is loaded with pizza parlors. Finding one that’s unique or special is the hard part. Anthony’s has restaurants all over south Florida and a few other locations in Delaware and Pennsylvania. The one we reviewed today is about a mile from downtown [...]
